Look at Me in the Eye

2023

#interactive performance

London, UK

The genesis of the artwork is rooted in the pervasive male gaze upon the female body and the sexualization of women. It also derives inspiration from the pervasive realm of online censorship. Social media algorithms, attuned to identifying and flagging content, are more prone to targeting female breasts over their male counterparts, resulting in the removal of images or videos.

However, the live performance unfolds with the audience actively engaging in discourse, delving into personal narratives of grappling with loved ones affected by breast cancer. Simultaneously, discussions extend to retrospective reflections on pivotal movements, such as the 20th-century hippie movement.
